VERA DREAMS OF THE SEA
VERA (64), a sign language interpreter for the national television of Kosova, is caught in the middle of her family dispute: FATMIR (68), her husband – a retired school principal prone to drinking and occasional battering – has disowned their daughter, SARA (early 30s), eight years ago, when he became protagonist of a drunken incident at her wedding. Since this event, he has banned VERA from communicating and seeing her daughter or her in-laws. However, under strict secrecy, like hiding a lover, VERA has managed to retain the relationship with her daughter. But when SARA, sick and tired of clandestine meetings with her mother, begins to pressure VERA to uncover their secret relationship, and free herself from FATMIR’s drunken reign, VERA’s painstakingly preserved daily routine begins to slowly collapse.
